About Me

I am a clinical translational neuroscientist with a PhD in neuroscience and specialized graduate training in the neurobiology of alcohol use disorder (AUD). My research seeks to identify the neural and behavioral mechanisms underlying the development and maintenance of AUD in order to develop novel and efficacious treatments for this disorder. I am currently an Associate Project Scientist at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in the Psychology Department.

I have several lines of research which seek to better understand the causes and correlates of AUD to ultimately identify promising interventions. One area of research seeks to characterize the gut microbiome brain axis in alcohol use disorder, with the goal of creating personalized psychobiotic treatments. A second program of research leverages experimental medicine and neuroimaging approaches to investigate the neuroimmune  underpinnings of AUD, with the end goal of developing novel neuroimmune treatments. Another line of research uses phenotyping methods to identify subtypes of individuals with AUD, with the end goal of refining precision medicine approaches. A final line of research involves utilizing neuroimaging tools to develop and optimize psychotherapies for AUD.
